LVIV WASTE TREATMENT PLANT ENTERED INTO TOP-10 UKRAINE infrastructure PROJECTS21.01.2019
Future waste treatment plant, which will start to build in Lviv this year, entered into the TOP-10 infrastructure projects of Ukraine according to the All-Ukrainian magazine “New Time”.
The magazine “New Time”, with help of representatives of Ministry of Infrastructure, the State Agency of Highways and Ukrzaliznytsia, as well as number of regional administrations, has created a list of the ten largest and most interesting infrastructure projects in Ukraine that are being implemented today and will be completed in the coming years. Besides Lviv waste treatment plant, list includes the rehabilitation of Hrybovychi landfill, which starts this year and waste recycling complex in Kharkiv region.
Lviv comprehensively solves the issue of handling solid household waste. In two years, in the city will be build first in Ukraine modern waste treatment complex with European technology of mechanical and biological treatment of waste, rehabilitated old landfill and introduce new waste management system, which will provide sorting of dry and wet waste, secondary raw materials and arrangement of separate areas for collecting electronics, large-sized and construction waste.
Already next year will be opened composting station for organic waste. For these purposes, city received a loan of EUR 25 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a grant of EUR 10 million – irrevocable financial assistance from environmental funds. The city contribution is 6.75 million euros.
